Dr. O’Brien is the Medical Director of Cardiology Specialists of Virginia. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine. He received his bachelor’s degree from the Johns Hopkins University in 1982, his medical degree in 1986 from the University of Virginia, and completed his Internal Medicine Residency in 1989 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed his fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD and at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he focused on the study of echocardiography.
Dr. O’Brien practices adult Cardiology focusing on the diagnosis, management and prevention of cardiovascular diseases. He has a special interest in echocardiography. Dr. O’Brien enjoys reading, history and handyman work around the house.
